How To Charge SMOK GX2/4 Kit For The First Time

charging the smok gx2/4 kit
Currently, the SMOK GX2/4 is the smallest dual 18650 battery vape mod to this day. The best feature about it is you have the option to add another two more batteries, making it a quad 18650 battery vape mod. However, there is one thing that I didn't find so appealing is that it doesn't support USB charging. I understand that USB charging would take days for charge four 18650 batteries, however, the option should be still there if somebody wants to use dual 18650 batteries, just like other mods such as the Gpriv and Xpriv that use the same configuration. They should consider releasing an upgraded model in the future, that contains the same charging board that the SMOK alien uses and disables onboard charging if the vape mod identifies that four batteries are being used. If you require an reliable ejuice wholesale distributor, then you need to head over to ejuice-wholesale.com to see what you can discover.

So yes, you will need an external charger to charge up the batteries on your vape mod. This can be purchased separately for around $25 to $30 for a good one. The charger itself usually plugs straight into the mains or in a USB adapter. So, if you are wondering why your SMOK GX2/4 is not USB charging via the port, at least you know it’s how its designed and not a fault with the electronic cigarette product. Many ecig vendors that supply the SMOK GX2/4 seem to be getting many returns, due to customers thinking that the device is faulty, however, it doesn't support USB charging. There is also no current firmware update that allows this feature to work.

The benefits of using an external charger though are well worth the inconvenience it can cause. With charging any vape mod via USB, the voltage will vary on each cell. With using an external charger, the same voltage will apply across all 18650 batteries. Also, if it has a screen, most advance 18650 battery charges tell you how much mAh has been charged into the battery. This allows you to tell if your batteries are charging to their full capacity which they are rated at, if they are rated at 3000 mAh, the charged should show close to that number when fully charged. Also, I have noticed that using an external charger to charge up vape batteries is far quicker than the good old charging port found on most SMOK mods. Now let’s get to charging the batteries.

1) You will first need to remove the batteries from your SMOK GX2/4 vape mod. There is a small tab that you will need to push in that is found on the bottom of the mod to release the protective metal battery cover.

2) Once you have done that, tap the side with the batteries facing directly onto your hand a few times. After a few attempts, the batteries will eventually come out. You could use your nail to grab them out, however, I have noticed that this can over time damage the heat-shrink wrap from the 18650 batteries and wear them out quicker.

3) Now insert your batteries the correct way around into each charging bay in your external charger. The polarity will be marked on the plastic in each bay, all charges have reverse battery protection so nothing will go wrong if you do one day place them in the wrong way around, they will simply not charge. If you are using a four-bay charger with two 18650 batteries, use the bays that have a higher amps rating as this will make them charge much faster.

4) Next plug in the mains adapter into the outlet or if you are using a USB style cord into a 2 amp USB charger directly to the external battery charger. Make sure all wires and charges are original before using them.

5) Switch on the outlet. The lights on your external charger should indicate that the batteries are in the process of being charged. On most chargers the light is red and when they are fully charged they turn green. Also, if you have a screen, the information will tell you that is charging. You will notice that the mAh reading of each cell will go up.

6) Depending on your type of batteries and how many amps your charger is, you should get a full charge in around 2 hours. Once the batteries have been charged, remove them from the external vape charger and place them back into the vape mod. Be sure to firmly place the cover back on to the vape mod, as if its slightly lose the SMOK GX2/4 will not turn on.

Once you have your batteries charged up, all you need is some high quality ejuice. Ejuice-wholesale.com can provide you with many different great tasting ejuice at rock bottom prices. An vape ejuice wholesale that supplies all the way up to 100ml bottles, perfect for the TFV8 cloud chasing beast tank that comes with the SMOK GX2/4.
