How To Make Sub Ohm Coils Last Longer

Changing the coils in your ECIG daily is not cheap at all, especially on a sub ohm tank. If you notice that you priming your coils correctly and you are still getting problems with burnt coils, then we have a little trick for you. This will extend the lifespan of your coil if you apply this method on how to make your sub ohm coils last longer. Before this our coils used to last maximum up to a week, but with our method you can get around three weeks or more out of your coils. What does this mean for you? It means you spend less money on buying new coils.

Priming your coil is the most important

When a coil is brand new that has never been used before, the cotton inside it will be bone dry. Priming basically is another word for soaking the coil before use. That way the cotton inside has something to heat and is not burning. This is the best way to prime a new coil.

1) Once you have fitted the new coil into the tank it’s now time to prime it.

2) Pour drops of e-liquid into the holes that are on the coil and in the middle area.

3) Now that you have done that, fill up the tank and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes.

4) Close the air flow on the bottom and suck on the mouthpiece for 10 seconds This will force all the juice reach into the coil. 

Special Trick to extend the life of your coil 

Sometimes even priming a brand-new coil is not enough, because certain eliquids don’t seem to get to the cotton inside the tank that quickly.  So even if you prime your coils and tank up, the first few puffs will be fine, but after that you will run into the risk of burning your ecig coil. The trick involves you to poke small holes into the sides of the cotton inside the coil. This will allow the eliquid to reach into the cotton at a much faster rate prevent the cotton from getting dry and burning out. This seems to work the best on smaller tanks such as the SMOK TFV8.

1) Take your tank apart so you can access the coil.

2) Get a small pin or needle of some kind.

2) You will see there are small holes with white bits of cotton that you can see around the coil.

3) Get your pointed object and poke three holes inside each hole with cotton.

Once you have made the modification to a coil fitted into a new or existing tank, the lifespan will be certainly increased and it will be noticeable to say the far least. Reason being, the holes that you have made apparent means the eliquid you insert into the tank will get access to the cotton quicker. This will prevent your ecig from getting a burnt taste when you smoke it on your throat.

Other ways to make your sub ohm coil last longer is to reduce the amount of wattage you set if at. The more power you run on the coil, the more quicker it’s going to go due to more stress and strain is placed on it. Also, don’t go above recommend wattage that is stated. Each manufacturer has a set number of watts for their product, they have tested what the maximum it is capable of.  When doing so they take taste and lifespan into their consideration. You can find this information on their website, but in most cases the wattage rating should be printed on the coil itself.

Thats all we know to make your ecig coils in your sub ohm tanks last longer. There is only so much you can do, you will eventually have to change them at some point. However, its better later than sooner because its can be expensive. Literally, I must change the coil on the SMOK TFV12 each week because I be vaping it around 100 watts daily. Some say ecigs are cheaper than ecigs, I neither agree or disagree because its depends on your setup. If you are into clouds, it can become more expensive than smoking cigs. But in most cases vaping is cheaper than smoking. Even if its not, costs should not be your main concern if it benefits your health.
