When it comes to vaping, the United Kingdom is ahead of the United States. This is no secret. In fact, we’ve known this for a longtime and so has others across the UK.
Health England’s statistics shows that vaping is far less
harmful than smoking regular cigarettes. Health England has now taken another
step to recognize vaping’s potential benefits. As part of its Stoptober
campaign, Public Health England has endorsed electronic cigarettes as a way to
finally quit smoking.
It’s fair to say that this endorsement from Public Health
England is a major victory for those who vape. Throughout the Stoptober
campaign, television adverts will start appearing and they will depict vaping
as an alternative to smoking cigarettes to those who are looking for
alternatives to regular cigarettes. The videos will include various phrases
that call vaping a good way to combat cravings for nicotine, while
acknowledging that e-cigs don’t carry as much risk of regular cigarettes.
BBC also noted that e-cigs
were one of the most popular tools for quitting during the 2016 Stoptober
campaign. The company reported that over 50% of people who did quit during the
campaign did it with electronic cigarettes. There are a number of studies that
have showed there has been an up-tick in vaporizers as the overall percentage
of smokers in the United Kingdom have declined.
Vaping has also been defended by NHS Health of Scotland. In
fact, they have recently said that e-cigs were a safer alternative to
cigarettes. The organization stated that e-cigs were a good option for those
looking to give up cigarettes.
We wonder what kind of statistics will start coming out
after the Stoptober campaign has finished. This is because this is the first
time in Stoptober’s history that the UK is endorsing e-cigs. For now, we’ll
have to wait until those statistics are released.
