How can I tell if I need to change the coil? It’s simple. If you are getting an off-putting taste into your mouth, such as a burnt taste of cotton or if the cloud production has gone, these are all signs that you need to change the coil. Changing the coil on the SMOK Alien 220W kit TFV8 baby tank that comes with it is very easy. I have changed the coils on it multiple times and have tried every coil out there for it. The X4 coils are the best for flavour and last the longest. The Q2 coils give you decent flavour with huge airy clouds, however, they only tend to last 2-3 days. The T6 and T8 coils are going to make you win with cloud competitions, but be prepared they tend to drink a lot of e-juice in a single vape session.
1) Unscrew the SMOK TFV8 baby tank from your Alien MOD.
2) Place one hand on the glass section, the top half of the tank and place your other hand on the bottom part of the tank. Twist both of your hands in the opposite direction. Unscrew the glass part from the base of the tank. Be careful handling the glass, if you apply too much force you are risking breaking the glass.
3) The glass section will separate from the bottom part. Remove the glass from the mouthpiece part, by gently pulling it off. Turn the existing coil anti-clockwise to remove it.
4) Wash the glass and all other metal parts under cold water. This will help get the full flavour from your new vape. Since the old remaining parts of the flavour are not getting mixed up.
5) Dry all the parts you have washed. Place your new coil into the base. Pour a few drops of e-liquid in the centre and around the wicking holes placed on the coil head. This will help prime the coil to avoid you getting a dry hit and burning out the brand-new coil.
6) Screw the tank back together. Once you have done that, open the top hatch and fill up the tank with e-liquid. Make sure you fill it to the top but remember not to overfill the SMOK TFV8 baby tank or it will overflow and leak into the mouthpiece or bottom air flow holes.
7) Allow the SMOK TFV8 baby tank to sit for 15 minutes before using it. This will provide enough time for the ejuice to soak into the cotton on the coil. If you use the tank straight away, you are risking burning the cotton on the coil.
