How and When to Change The Coil On Your SMOK Vape Pen

how and when to change on vape pen
If you are new to vaping, changing the coil is very important to ensure you always get optimal flavour from your e-liquid. No matter how much you are spending on premium e-juice, if your coil is bad you will never get the full flavour. The coil itself is placed inside the centre of a vape tank that is screwed onto the battery of your electronic cigarette. When you press the fire button, power is sent to the coil that is controlled by an internal circuit and the heating element begins to heat up almost instantly. Wrapped around the heating element, is white cotton that is used to absorb the e-liquid and the outcome of the process is vaporized eliquid that is consumable by humans.

After a certain amount of puffs, the cotton usually becomes burnt and it can affect the purity of the taste you get. Also, if you don't prime the coil correctly before you are using it, that can also the coil to burn out on the first hit. It’s hard to describe what a burnt coil tastes like, it’s like vaping burnt plastic and it is very harsh on all vape mods. This can't be good on your health, so as soon as you notice this then it’s time for you to change the coil. You should always keep a pack of spare coils with you when you vape, whether that’s in your car or in your bag, as the coil can become bad at any given time. So it’s best to prepare for it, so you can change the coil and continue to vape your favourite ejuice and get the full flavour.

Changing the coil on a vape pen is the same across the different vape kit brands that are out there in today's vape market. Smok tanks all have the same tank design, the only difference is usually the coil fitment. A can't stress how important it is to prime the coil for the first time. The white cotton inside the brand new vape coil needs to be soaking wet before use. If it’s not, you risk the cotton being dry when you vape on it for the first time. Once the cotton becomes bad and you experience a dry hit, you can't get rid of the taste and you will have to bin the coil. This can get expensive if you keep forgetting to prime your coils. This guide will provide you with the best method on you how to change the coil on your vape pen in the most sophisticated way possible.

Changing the coil on an electronic cigarette can be a messy process, so I suggest that you move over to the sink and have some tissues ready.

1) Unscrew the vape tank from your vape mod. This will make it easier changing the coil and prevent ejuice from getting into the battery terminal when you open the tank.

2) Unscrew the glass part of the tank from the base part. Keeping screwing it anticlockwise, it will eventually come off.

3) You will see the coil head positioned in the middle of the vape tank, it looks like a circular metal silver thing. Using a tissue place it over the coil to help grip it and twist it anticlockwise until it comes out.

4) Throw the old coil in the bin and wash the parts of the vape tank. Dry the parts with some tissue and leave them standing for a while so the water dries off.

5) Place your brand-new coil into the vape tank and screw it in. Make sure you tighten it so that the vape tank doesn't leak but not too much, as it will make it harder for you to remove later.

6) Priming the coil is the next step. This allows the coil to be soaked with liquid before use to prevent it running dry. Simply pour a few drops into the centre of the coil and also inside the wicking holes that are placed around the coil.

7) Place the glass back onto the vape tank by twisting it back on. Open the top hatch of the vape tank, place e-liquid directly into the filling hole and fill up the vape tank to the top. Please allow around 10 minutes before vaping on your mod. This will provide enough time for the coil to soak up the e-liquid.

As are now aware it’s very easy to change the coil on your vape pen once you have done it for the first time. Your new coil if primed correctly should last around 1 week. Remember to always monitor how much eliquid is left in the tank, If it gets below half always top it up to prevent the coil burning out, as there is little juice inside, the coil will have a hard time wicking it.
