After a couple of weeks of hard use from your vape device, you will notice that the cloud production will be slightly less and the flavour of e-juice you are using won't be tasteful anymore. This is a normal process of vaping and every vape device owner goes through this. The average lifespan of a coil lasting can vary, it depends on how often you have, the quality of the e-juice and the power you are operating the vape coil at.
If you are always vaping at high wattages or even exceeding the recommended wattage range, then you will burn out a vape coil at a quicker rate. Changing the vape coil is easy, however priming it is far more important. If you don't prime a vape coil correctly for the first time, then you will increase the chances of getting the harsh burnt taste in your mouth. When I was new to vaping, I had gone through an endless amount of brand new vape coils because I was educated on how to prime a vape coil correctly.
Priming a vape coil is very important to determine how it’s going to perform in the long term. What priming does is wet the vape coil with ejuice, this prevents the white cotton inside being dry. So, when you hit the fire button your vape device, the vape cotton is not being burned and the ejuice is being heated up and vaporised just how it should be.
Below is a quick and easy guide which you can follow to help change and prime a brand new vape coil for any device. The process of changing a coil head across different vape manufacturers is the same in most cases and doesn't change. Just remember the vape tank when opened can get messy so head over to the sink while you are performing the coil change. Also, the tank is made from Pyrex glass so don't use too much force when trying to open the vape tank or when it comes to closing it. If you over tighten the glass, after the vape coil change it will be a difficult and challenging task when it comes to replacing the coil again.
Firstly, you will need to take the vape tank apart to gain access to the old coil head. This is very straightforward to do, simply hold the bottom part of the vape tank using one hand and using your other hand grip the glass part firmly turn it anticlockwise. After a few turns, the glass part will remove itself from the actual vape tank.
Now that you have gained access to the vape coil, using your hands keep turning it anticlockwise until it becomes undone. Throw the old coil in the bin. To prevent old flavour e-juice mixing in, I suggest you wash all metal parts under cold water, followed by drying them using a towel.
Insert the brand-new replacement vape coil into the centre of the vape tank and begin to turn it clockwise to lock it in place. After a few turns, you should notice that it has been securely fitted in.
Now that you have fitted your brand new vape coil, you are now ready to prime it with the e-juice that you want to use. Priming is straight forward, pour a couple of drops into the centre and into the small wicking holes that are placed around the coil. This will ensure that there is enough vape juice inside the vape coil to provide maximum absorption.
Place the glass you removed earlier on over the coil head and turn it clockwise to secure it in place. Check it is nicely tightened to prevent your vape tank for leaking out e-juice. Once you have done this, open the filling hatch and fill up the vape tank to the highest level.
Please allow at least 10 minutes before you use your vape tank. During the time you are waiting, the e-juice will reach the cotton and soak it up. This will prevent any dry hits when you vape on a brand-new coil for the first time.
