It is very important that you rewrap any 18650 batteries you use with your ecig vape pen, if its worn or torn off. Any exposed part of the battery, including damaged shrink wrap could potential cause the battery to short out with anything metal. This can be the metal battery cover for your ecig mod, certainly not safe at all. Most stories that related to electronic cigarettes blowing up are due to poor battery safety and always not the devices fault. If you are going to place batteries in your pocket with your keys and coins or use it while the wrapping is damaged, you can only blame yourself. Now if your 18650 batteries are still working fine, then you don't have to throw they away if the wrap has come off. What you can do is purchase 29mm shrink wrap and repair them yourself. You will need a heat gun or hair dryer and possibly a pair of scissors to cut down the heat shrink wrap if its too long.
1) Use your fingers to remove the existing
plastic damaged insulation wrap on the 18650 battery. Don’t use any kind of
screwdriver, hammer or knife this could short the battery.
2) Once the wrap has all come up. Slide your new
wrap into the battery. If you have ordered 29mm then you should be fine, but
you might find you need to trim the access.
3) Turn on your heat gun and place it directly
onto the 18650 battery. Keep twisting and turning the battery while doing this
to ensure rotating it will cover all the different areas.
4) That should be it, you have fully rewrapped
your 18650 ecig vape pen battery for best possible safety. Check all your
batteries and rewrap them all if required.
