If you are unsure of what ohms a
coil reads before putting into your tank, it could cause problems with it
firing up and safety levels. Its important to test a ecig vape coil when
building your own before use, this can be done using a cheap good old ebay
multimeter. The ohm of your coil can not be exactly determined by the amount of
wraps you have done, that’s why we always advise for it to be checked it only
takes a few seconds. They also make specific 510 ohms meters, were you screw
the coil in the base and test it on the device. But if you don’t have one of
these not an issue at all, you can test using a normal multimeter which most
people have at home in their tool box. The coil has to be screwed into the
tank, to provide real life based figures as the ohm reading can change when out
of the tank.
1) Turn on your
digital multimeter and turn the adjustable button to ohms.
2) Place the red
probe in the centre of the 510 pin on the bottom of the tank.
3) Place the
other remaining black probe on the outer of the 510 pin.
4) Instantly you
will get a read out on the screen. For example, 0.15, 0.18, 0,05 ohms.
If you are
happy with the ohm reading, then you can attach the tank onto the vape mod and
begin to use. If you have not got the coil build to the ohms you require, then
rebuild or adjust the amounts of wraps to get the perfect ohms.
Are you thinking about getting into rebuildable vaping? This allows you to make your own custom coils, to save money and get better flavour and clouds from your vaping setup. Vapecentralgroup.com have a dedicated section geared towards Rebuildable if you are considering it you should check it out.
