It’s always recommend by advanced vapers to test the 18650
batteries you use with your ecig vape pen. This is because performance can
degrade overtime and it will get reduces the more times you use your 18650
battery. They usually last around 500 charges before the capacity gets reduced
as this is a natural cycle with any battery. Things that can impact the
longevity of an 18650 battery can be how hard you push it and how long you have
had it. If you get a message on the vape mode saying weak battery, you will need
to test it. Batteries state that they
are 2500 mah, but your battery may be only holding half of its capacity.
Testing the battery in your ecig will help you work out if you will need to
change it.
1) Allow your 18650 battery to fully charge before testing.
2) Turn on your multimeter and switch it to read in volts.
3) Attach the red probe to the positive side of the battery and
the black probe to the negative side of the battery.
4) It should read around 3.7 volts or higher.
5) Leave your battery to rest for 2 hours, not using the vape
pen.
6) Retest the battery and check for readings. If reading below
3.5 volts with use, it shows the battery is losing it capacity without being
used. This clearly shows that the battery is faulty and needs replacing because
its dropping charge. If you notice that the battery reading is the same as
before your battery is in good working order and doesn’t need replacing.
This is a simply way to test an 18650 battery at home for
your ecig vape mod. No fancy tools or diagrams are required except for a good
old multimeter. We test batteries on a regular basis for our ecig customers and
we have found many undiscovered batteries that need replacing. What we have learned
is a battery can look perfect from the outside, its what’s in the inside that
counts the most. You can tell if a battery is bad from the outside in most
cases that’s our point that we are trying to make. So please test each cell
monthly to ensure optimal performance that you are getting all the time.
