If you vape often, trying to quit smoking you will more than likely be going through more coils than a regular vaper. This is normal and something that you should not worry about as much, as your main focus is improving your health and sticking to vaping on a consistent basis. Once you have purchase your vape mod and tank, you are usually setup up for a long period of time. Most vape and sub ohm tanks go for years and don't break down on you, you see people most of the time with a new vape mod because of an upgrade. E-liquid and coils are required to keep your ecig running. Purching brand new coils all the time can get expensive and costly, especially if you are trying to save money by quitting smoking and vaping instead. There are many ways that you can try to increase the lifespan of your vape coils.
Before we get into that, first i am going to help you understand how a coil works for an ecig. The tank itself is made up of different parts, the top mouthpiece, the glass, the coil head and the bottom base part. The coils itself is the main element that reflects on the quality of your vapor. A poor overused coil that has been in your vape tank for a number of weeks can result in dry burnt tasting hits that nobody likes to vape on. The taste is very unpleasent to most people how want the full flavor from there e-liquid. The reason why you get a dry hit on your vape coil is becaue the cotton inside that is wraped around the metal coil has become burned. This can happen for many reasons, such as not enough e-juice in the bottom of the vape tank or going over the recommended wattage on your vape mod for what the coil is rated for.
Vaping can get expensive, especially for higher end tanks, which is why i tried to discover different ways to make vape coils last longer on my ecig. I have a bunch of tricks that will help increase the coils longliveity and I want to share them with you guys.
1) Priming the coil properly. Priming the coil is done before you vape on a brand new coil for the first time. What it does is allows the white cotton that is stuffed inside tehe coil to get socked up, preventing it getting burnt out. Priming it is one thing, but doing it correctly is far more important. Simply dropping a few drops into the coil is not good enough and you will risk burning out the cotton on your coil.
The best way to prime your vape coil is to pour four drops of e-liquid into each wicking hole that is presented around the coil. Also paint the cotton around the coil wet, unitl it is fully soaked wet. But remember don't get carried away with it, as you don't want the flood the coil. This can cause leaking at the bottom, the e-liquid will flood into the base or also causing atomizer short problems.
Now that you have primed your vape coil correctly, the next step is to fill up the vape tank will your favourite e-juice right to the top. You will need to wait 15 mintues before you vape on your brand new coil. This will provide enough time for the coil to get soacked with cotton. Rushing into vaping will risk the coil never tasting from its full potential.
2) An old trick of the trade. Most of the time vape coils dont seem to last long is because they are not getting wicked fast enough. If you are wonder what wicked means, basically the e-liquid reaching the coil. Making a few holes in each wicking holes placed around the coil, will allow the vape juice to travel more quicker into the cotton. This trick works great with SMOK coils and should work with any brand. All you need is a spare needle and you can get an extra week out of your coils.
3) Cleaning your vape coils can be an good idea if you are on budget. Washing your coils with water is a not recommended and will only do more harm that good. This will damage the cottom and cause the metal part of the coil to erode. The best method to clean any ecig vape coil is to let them soak overnight in ethyl alcohol. This will an none chemcial based cleaning solution, so it safe to use on your vape products. You will also need to wait an additional day for the coils to dry out. Please keep in mind that you can only cleaning old vape coils so much. If you keep cleaning them again and again, they will become more weaked. From my personal experience doing this, you can get good performance and taste will the first clean. After that the flavour and clouds will wear off and you will have to bin your old coils, as you have already cleaned them once before.
4) Stay within the limits. The recommended wattage rated is there for a reason, in fact manfatures that make the coils to stress tests on them to see what the optimal power range is for both performance and lifespan. The recommended rating is something you should stay in the range of for your vape coils. The max rating it not a realistic fiquire and is only to be used for short bursts of power. This usually is a few seconds and is max wattage rating is usually not good for flavour apart from blowing really big clouds. Its better to underpower your coils then overpower them if you are looking to get the best performance in the long term for your vape pen coils.
Also chain vaping is not good for your coil. If you are constantly puffing on your vape pen without having short breaks in between, you will risk burning out the cotton and getting dry burnt taste when hitting on it. Also when vaping, ensure that your airflow is opened all the way and that you are taking hard draws off it. This will allow more air to be forced into the coil when you are vaping, preventing it from burning out.
These are my tops tips to help make your ecig vape coils last longer. They work for me, so they also should work for you. It has saved me having to buy boxes of coils and also alot of money that i can now enjoy spending on more ejuice.
