How To Tell When Vape Coil is Going Bad & Needs Replacing?

Vaping can be enjoyable to a point when the coil no longer delivers the full flavor from a vape. The average lifespan of a brand new vape coil is around three days if you are a chain vapor, this is common for sub ohm tanks. For the average user, you could get up to one week, depending on how you vape and what wattage settings you normally use. It is important to change the coil because if you don't, you are risking inhaling toxins of the burnt cotton into your lungs, which can't be good at all. If you are new to vaping, you probably won't be able to tell when to change the burnt coil on your vape. Today, this article will help you understand the common symptoms of how to tell if your coil is going bad, before you head out to the vape store to pick up your replacements.

1) Flavour. If you are getting a slightly burnt taste on the to inhale when vaping, chances are the coil is on its way out. The more you vape, the harsher it feels on your throat, you will need to change your coil if you want to continue to vape. I would have recommended as soon as you notice the taste of your ejuice is slightly off, stop vaping until you replace the coil. Sometimes what can happen is you may be vaping on more watts than what the coil is recommended by the manufacturer. Check the wattage on the mod you are using matches the recommended wattage range on your coil before you jump to conclusion.

2) Vapor production. Is the vape production not as huge as it was before? Has the clouds gone smaller over the days? This is also a common sign that the coil is on its way out. The heating element will not be able to wick the coil properly due to the cotton being overused. Continuing to vape like may give you a sore throat, so take action and change the coil as soon as you can.

I must stress how important it is to change the coil when it burns out. It’s certainly not healthy, if you think about it, as you will also be inhaling cotton particles into your lungs. This is still safer than smoking, however, it’s not wise to continue to vape like this. Therefore, I always recommend that you stock up on coils in advance, so you can be prepared for an unexpected coil change. Even carrying a few on the go with you is essential.

When you change the coil on your vape pen, you need to ensure that you prime the coil correctly. This involves you placing three to four drops of eliquid directly into the wicking holes around the coil, followed by placing a few more drops in the center. Then I would recommend that you fill the vape tank up to the top and allow the brand new coil to soak up for 10 minutes. This process is what most vape shops used to prevent getting dry burnt hits on a brand-new coil.

One thing to make clear that I get asked a lot is, can you clean a premade burnt coil and reuse it, the answer is no. Once the cotton is burned, you will never get that same brand-new taste again, even if you clean the coil with water. However, if you have a rebuildable tank that is compatible with building your own coils, then you can re wick the vape coil with fresh cotton that is sold on vape shop online Canada.

If you want to avoid that harsh burnt taste on when vaping, always ensure that you prime your coil, never chain vape and to always stay within the recommended wattage range. Also, never vape on your tank when there is hardly any ejuice left inside, as there won’t be enough range for the cotton to wick, resulting in it drying out far quicker. Temperature control vape tanks are a good place to start, as they avoid that harsh burnt taste occurring due to better heat management. It’s something that you should look more into if you want to take things to a more advanced level.
