How To Stop a Vape Tank From Overheating

how to stop an vape mod from overheating

If it is apparent that your vape tank or battery is getting hot, it can't be good for safety for long-term operation. Now 18650 batteries do tend to heat up a little if you like to chain vape on a regular basis. However, if you keep vaping all the time, you might start to worry about the device exploding in your face or pocket from overheating. It is normal for batteries to get warm when vaping, but if they are too hot to touch with your bare hands for more than a couple of seconds, it can't be good at all. There are two different elements that generate heat in an electronic cigarette.

The coil head that you screw into the bottom part of the vape tank itself contains a small heating element which transfers e-liquid into smokeable vapor. As you can understand, if you keep pressing the fire button and vape, the heating element is also going to transfer wasted heat into the surroundings, such as the outer tank and glass part. This is a problem with high-performance sub ohm tanks that cloud chasers use such as the SMOK tfv12 tank. The V12 coil head contains 12 mini coils inside the tank. Regardless, if you are vaping more than 100 watts on that thing it will get super warm that you can't touch the base with your hands. If everything is setup correctly, you will not run into any problems.

The batteries are another component that is used in vaping that can also cause your vape tank or mod to get impacted. If you are batteries are not authentic also known as fake copies, then the batteries will not be rated for what the outer labeling states. Usually, fake counterfeit batteries are overrated to say the very least. If you place a heavy strain on any vape battery, turning up the wattage it will easily struggle to provide a consistent level of voltage. This can cause the battery to overheat and being fake it is a risk. Even if you have purchased genuine authenticate batteries, if you have got a battery that is not rated for your sub ohm tank and the level of watts you are wanting to vape on, again this will cause the battery to overheat. With vaping, you can't just slap any old 18650 batteries in, you need to match it correctly with your setup and work out what amp battery you need. If you don't, it can result in overheating, which could then lead to your vape pen exploding when in use, both possibilities you want to avoid.

If you are using a regulated vape mod, for example, one with a screen with safety features, then the device will automatically recognize any kind of possible overheating and shut it down. Once the device has cooled down and gone back to a normal operating temperature, it will allow you to resume to your vape. If you are using a none regulated pen or box style mod, it will have no safety auto cut off features and if something goes wrong, then you know what to expect. A none regulated vape mod has no protection circuit, it works similar to a torch style circuit, you screw your vape tank, place a battery and vape. To begin with, if you are not an advanced vapor and don’t know ohms law, you should not even have one in the first place.

If you want to stay safe and also prolong the lifespan of your vape mod, then please consider my following top tips to stop your vape pen from overheating. Let’s start with the obvious.

1) Reduce the wattage. More power equals more heat that will be generated. If you are chain vaping above 100 watts expect a warm vape tank and mod. Lower power is more efficient and provides a cooler vape.

2) Open the air flow. The tighter the air flow is set to, the less air will get into the coil, that is why you get better flavor. Opening the air flow control to the maximum level will provide you with a nice airy kind of vape and bigger clouds.

3) Use different coils. With all these fancy coils from SMOK for the TFV8, TFV12 both baby and big beast versions of the tank, they also come in different shapes and sizes. If you want better battery life, fewer e-liquid consumptions and a less warm vape, go with the dual coils. If you are going to use quad coils, there are more heating elements and they are going to warm up quicker. Therefore, the will eat up more e-juice at the very same time. If you chose to vape to save money, smaller coils that are rated from less wattage will be more beneficial for you in the long term.
