Are you new to vaping? Then you have come to the right place at the right time. Today, we are going to explain the different parts that are used to construct a full functional vape pen. This will give you a breakdown of what the different components do and what they are responsible for. Vape pods work just like regular vape pens, however, their size is more compact and uses a smaller design, but the concept is the same. Let’s start with the basics.

The mod - This is the bottom part of the vape pen device. It is made from either plastic or metal and contains the circuit and battery for your vape device. Some vape mods are larger than others some can house multiple 18650 batteries. In terms of functionality, different mods come in different shapes and sizes, but they provide similar features. Most mods will come with a screen with functional buttons, allowing you to control how many watts you are vaping on, switch to different modes such as temperature control and keep track of how many puffs you have had. Not many people upgrade the mod, if they need to upgrade it, they would consider replacing the batteries inside with ones that provide more amps. Also, certain mods are restricted to how much power they can provide. Each mod will be rated at the maximum wattage it can support. However, just because a vape mod does 100 watts max doesn't mean your batteries will safely support it. Therefore, you need to match up the battery with the ohms of the coil you are using to ensure safe operation.

External charger - If the vape mod that you are using has multiple batteries, usually more than three, then you will require an external charge. Mods with multiple batteries don't provide onboard charging for the simple reason being it is too slow. Also, external chargers provide accurate charging, which means the voltage will be the same across all batteries and not differ from the rest. An external charger will require a USB cable and mains adapter, which in most cases is supplied. External chargers come in either two or four bays to charge up 18650 batteries. I always recommend that you don't leave an external charge unattended for safety reasons and certainly not leave it on overnight. Some external chargers can provide you with more detailed information about what the mod’s circuit can’t provide. Some advanced external chargers can tell you how much mAh the battery capacity has charged up to and also tell you the volts it is charging too. This means you can keep track of numbers to help you rule out a weak battery in your vape mod, something you won't be able to tell without using an advanced external charger.

Tank / Coil - The coil is what is used to heat the ejuice placed inside the tank so that you can vape on your device. The coil acts as a heating element and has a cotton place around it so the juice transferred into the coil at a speedy rate. Coils can last around one week, and you can also purchase vape tank with a rebuildable deck to make your custom coils. Some people find this takes more time or effort and work, however, by doing so you will save a lot of money on replacement coils. If you don't fancy building your vape coils, then you can purchase coils in a pack of 5 that are already made for you. These are called prebuilt coils and are widely available for big brand vape tanks such as SMOK and Aspire. Changing the vape coil is simply, you remove the old one and insert your new one, followed by priming it correctly. Remember there are different types of coils for a different type of vaping style. Some coils will be geared towards more clouds or flavor, there are also some coils for your vape tank that will provide you a balance of both. Always go onto the manufacturer's website to see what different coils are available for your device and check reviews for what other people have to say about them.
