The most superior factor I like about Smok vape
tanks is the clever top filling design. Before, Smok the company incorporated
this feature for their tanks, most manufacturers would make use of a bottom filling
design. This at the time was great, however,
it was very time consuming when you wanting to fill up your vape tank with
e-liquid. This is because you had to unscrew the glass from the actual base the
glass screws into. Then you had to turn the glass upside down and squeeze
e-juice into the sides found around the chimney. Even though this was an old design, the best thing I liked about it was
its leak-proof design. No matter the
position of vape tank, using the bottom fill design, upside-down or on the floor,
the vape tank will not leak out ejuice.
Now the top filling system on the Smok TFV8 tank is very convenient and it's nice to see that the company is continuing
to use this on the newer models of their vape tanks such as the TFV12 prince
and TFV8X.
From my personal experience, the top filling
design works great for about a month. After a long period of time, due to
regular opening and closing of the vape tank filling it up daily, it will
loosen the mechanical parts that hold it together. This can cause problems, let
me explain. I nicely filled up my vape tank with 4ml of expensive premium
e-juice and like you normally would do is place it in your pocket. I did this
and after a while, I noticed when I
placed my hand in my pocket, there was leaking e-juice all over my hands and
inside my pocket. I immediately removed
the vape mod from my pocket and wrapped in some tissue paper. Examining the
situation in more detail, I easily discovered that the top hatch was opened. Yes,
that’s right! I was 100% sure that I shut it tightly like I normally would do
once I have filled up.
I began to find out this is a common problem with
SMOK tanks. I wouldn’t really call it a problem or a flaw, it’s just how it is.
If you look at the top filling design it is all enclosed with the actual tank,
there is no screw that you can tighten to increase the grip of it closing.
However, I did find many ideas to improve and also prevent the top hatch from
opening itself that you should consider as well on your Smok branded vape tank.
If you are having problems with the opening hatch, whether, it’s a TFV8 baby
beast or TFV12 tank, these tips will apply the same to all different versions
1) Check the rubber gasket. The first thing to do
is start with the basics. If you open the hatch, you will see a rubber grommet
that is white colored. Sometimes, this
can begin to wear out if you fill regularly and place a force on it when you are
filling. It can also be slightly out of place, causing a loose seal will the
top filling design. See if you can find your box that your Smok tank came in
when you first purchased it. There is a small plastic bag that contains spare
parts such as O rings and also another rubber grommet. Replacing the current
worn out rubber gasket is easy, simply get a flat head screwdriver to pry it
up. Then place your new rubber gasket into position and carefully press it in.
This should hopefully tighten up the seal and prevent your TFV8 baby beast top
fill from opening and leak in your
pocket.
2) Other than checking the rubber gasket, there
is not much you can do apart from manually stopping the top hatch opening. With
the tank, you get rubber bands that are
intended for you to place over the vape tank's glass to prevent it cracking or
getting damaged when dropped on the floor. I find that sliding the vape
protective band around the hatch at the top of the tank works great. What I
like about this idea is it stops it from opening regardless of the situation.
So far, I find that this is the best solution and you can 100% self-assure yourself that your TFV8 tank will
not leak. Ever since I have done this to my Smok vape tank, the hatch had never
opened itself again. Looks like I have solved this problem for good.
